Halo 5: Guardians

343 Industries has revealed some new information regarding Halo 5: Guardians, its next big Halo title for the Xbox One due in 2015. However, more interestingly, studio head Bonnie Ross revealed the developer’s intention to stop numbering the games.

Speaking to OXM (via Gamer Headlines), Ross said that, “At some point, we do want to stop numbering. Especially on Xbox One. If I had my druthers, we wouldn’t have called Halo 4 that – we really look at that game as the start of where [Master Chief]’s going. At some point we need to drop the number and still [let you] know you’ve got a big story coming.

“It might still be a Master Chief story. I’m just saying, at some point we don’t want to be Halo 17, when Master Chief’s like 80. We’re not Final Fantasy, we can’t do it. So we kind of open that door – it doesn’t mean it’ll be a Master Chief story or not. That’s something for us to decide in the future.”

Would a number at the end of Halo really make a difference? Let us know what you think below.

“It MIGHT still be a Master Chief story”………what?! Man I’m starting to think that this talk of Agent Locke taking over might be true. Man I don’t know. I’m too used to Chief. Did they ever even show his face? I mean we saw Agent Locke, the Black dude. Even if he is a great actor (voice too) in the Live Action film, I don’t feel right with a known face to take over Chief’s spot. Haha. It’s weird, but, I don’t know. Seems like no one can take Chief’s spot. U know what, 343 may slowly try to transition Locke into being lead. As long as they keep Chief a big part of the game(s), I suppose they can add some very interesting stories.

How about you just stop making them? Well .. . I mean they pretty much did already come out with a Halo 5 in the form of Destiny.
