A New Watch Dogs Mod Makes It Look As Good As The E3 2012 Demo

Remember the Watch Dogs E3 2012 demo? The one that actually looked great, and looked like the first indication of what the next generation of home consoles will be like (bear in mind, this was before the PS4 or Xbox One had yet been unveiled). Watch Dogs back then promised limitless possibilities with regards to its gameplay, and to its graphics, which, of course, looked stunning.

Subsequently, Watch Dogs suffered downgrades- depending upon who you talk to, it either suffered one or several, but it suffered them nonetheless. The final release was still a good game, but nothing like the initial promise (and this was best reflected in the game’s graphics). So now, this new mod that promises to make at least the PC version of the game look like the debut trailer should find some popularity.

Created by TheWorse, here is all the stuff this mod does:

  • Changes to the default fog values
  • Enabled bokeh DOF for the main cameras
  • Stuttering Improvements
  • E3 2012 Bloom
  • Performance Improvements
  • Enabled Headlight Shadows
  • LoD Changes
  • Reflection changes
  • Added 3 new cameras to the game(closer, normal, further)
  • Rain changes(High quality rain drops, properly reacting to light, etc)
  • LensFlares(WIP)
  • Lighting changes(TESTING AND WIP)
  • Civilians density changes

    Utterly disgusting. No doubt because Ubi had to protect that huge marketing push from Sony and WD could only run 900P 30FPS even after downgrades. And on top of that, the game actually runs better with stuttering fixed and a texture bug removed that allows Ultra Settings to be run on video cards with 2GB RAM.

    How ANYONE could trust Ubi-Soft and Sony after this is beyond me. One of the most disgusting things I’ve seen in videogames. Just gross.

      yeah that is BS have to protect the console n00bs with there $400 box of fail. The thing is i reckon thatll be more common place this gen as there so weak unless this goes BIIIG and hits major tech outlets forcing Ubisoft to acknowledge this cus surely theyd know people will be digging and more of this rubbish will hurt them

      They didn’t use it because almost nobody has a multi-thousand dollar SLI PC to handle settings that high at reasonable framerates.

      The vast majority of PCs that are weaker than a PS4 hold back PCs. There’s little money in targeting the tiny number of high end PCs out there.

      They left it out because it’s a slideshow for anything but SLI Titans.

      banned multiple times on dualshockers, gamingbolt, cinemablend, onlysp,
      gamepur, and pretty much everywhere on disqus. All it does is spread
      lies and hate about consoles and PS4 especially.

    It can make it close to the e3 build but it can’t match it. Ubi simplified some geometry and also removed real time light sources. It’s great that fans have improved what ubi should have made available from day 1 but we will never get the e3 build quality unless e3 puts the light sources back in and changes the geometry back.

    If someone doesn’t understand what I mean by geometry (not every everyone does calm down its OK) it basically means they simplified objects. Buildings were in places made note square, vehicles were simplified and have less polygons etc etc.
