Animation For ‘Catherine’ Will Be Lip-Synced For English Localisation

Anyone worried about dodgy dubbing in the NA release of Atlus’ erotic/nightmare/puzzle game ‘Catherine’ can rest a little easier knowing that, according to Michell Ruff who is providing the English language voice for the part of ‘Katherine’ (with a K), some of the animations in the game are being re-animated so as to sync with the English audio: “I had to match basic timing on scenes but my Katherine’s mouth was being animated to my performance in some of those scenes. In some of them, she was animated already and I had to sync my performance.”

Thanks to Siliconera for the info.

i actually prefer japanese language in video games. english is just so corny and doesn’t give the same anticipation in a battle or coolness factor in fighting games.

It could be because you’re from another country, but I like the English versions of anything.

I’m with u tareq, when anything is anime related I prefer Japanese voiceover. But at least they r taken the time 2 tighten the dubbing up, which is more that can b said 4 most. So happy they decided 2 bring this 2 the States, was nervous 4 a while.

im not just talking about anime, even regular american cartoon sounds corny to me, the japanese know how to fire you up with speeches but the english sometimes sounds childish. i even prefer batman in japanese than english.

We’ll have 2 disagree on that 1…lol. Batman is American as apple pie. Except in the movies, where he is Welsh pretending 2 b American. Close enough. Kevin Conroy’s Batman from the animated series is amazing!

    • yea I don’t think I’d prefer a japanese batman to the standard american one. He’s been speaking english since 1939

lol i was trying to give example how japanese sounds more exciting than american english, sorry but i would rather listen to japanese and read subtitles than hear someone in cartoon or video games scream (is that all you got?) (i fight for freedom and justice)

but yeah batman should speak english :p

    • PilarVIRUS

Yes Kevin Conroy’s Batman is awesome! I loved watching them when I was younger.

Glad we converted u 🙂 I know what u mean tho. When a character gets angry in Japanese it sounds epic. I wish I could speak the language just so I could yell @ ppl when I get mad…lol. But even when they sign big names like Billy Bob Thorton, Matt Damon & Clair Danes 4 sumthin like Princess Mononoke I still listen 2 the Japanese audio.

Thx u understood me. U know now that I think of it. I want to watch star wars in japanese . Darth vader in japanese is gonna be crazy

  • doub7

Didn’t Conroy do the voice in arkham asylum also? Think so but not 100%.

I went & looked up sum other things on this game, looks like such a breath of fresh air. So strange & different, & erotic nightmare puzzle game is the best new genre ever!

  • doub7

Lol…I can’t imagine how awesome Darth Vader would b in Japanese. sumthin tells me he wouldn’t b as calm & collected as he is in English. Now I want 2 dig out my Star Wars Trilogy & c what languages r on the DVD…lol.
