assassin's creed 4 black flag

Desmond Miles was the main protagonist of all the Assassin’s Creed games so far and if you have played Assassin’s Creed 3, you’d be left wondering who will actually be the main protagonist of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

We won’t spoil it for you but it seems the Ubisoft guys have been talking about removing the middleman i.e. Desmond and making the player the direct connection to Edward Kenway—the guy you play as in the game.

Assassin’s Creed 4 Lead Writer Darby McDevitt told GameFront that it’s like “removing a layer between you and Edward Kenway.”

The story of the game should be interesting as well because Assassin’s Creed 3 closed the plot nicely, and since this is related someway to the game, Ubisoft needs to handle this well.

The game will be released this year for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U and the next gen platforms. You can check out our complete coverage of the game here.

I hated the modern day story. Desmond, those gods, the stupid portal coma and the overall no templar killing in the modern sections were very convoluted. Desmond only got about 2 hours of game time total in the 5 games he was in so he was really only a minor charater. I enjoyed Connor, Ezio and Altair’s story so i hope ac4 sticks to the historical setting and not some poorly written modern side story.(Really the dialog in the modern stuff was terrible horrible charaters)

    • I feel there is potential for so much more. They should task the guys who did the comic book to make the present day story stuff, and then back them up with game mechanics that are at least on par with the historical parts of the games. You’re right that the Desmond/present story line is just a side story. I wish and see potential for it to be more, but just out of grasp it seems.

I’m sorry, did you just say that AC3’s plot line closed nicely? Ac3 is on the top ten list for shittiest game endings in video game history. It left every AC fan confused, scratching their head wondering, “What the fuck did I accomplish by playing through this franchise?” The fact that they took 21-12-12 seriously in their plot line and included supernatural beings completely ass-fucked the plot, reminds me of… What’s the name of that movie series? Oh yea, Indiana Jones. Just, JUST like kingdom of the crystal skull.

They are just starting to milk the series a little bit, the whole point in these games is to unravel Desmond’s story, they need to at least give us one more game which somehow re-visits Desmond and then give the AC franchise a well deserved rest.
