Below: New Fantasy IP Revealed at Microsoft E3 Press Conference

What lies below? Adventure!

Microsoft showed off a ton of exclusives at its E3 2013 press conference, including games from well-known franchises like Dead Rising 3 and the classic Killer Instinct. However, as studio head Phil Spencer stated, it was about creating new IPs as well.

One of those new IPs is a top down rogue-like game for the console called “Below”. A trailer was released showcasing its take on rogue elements, and the game will be developed by Jim Guthrie alongside Capy. Guthrie is an award winning composer who is also known for his work on the Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery EP.

The game is most interesting for its extremely pulled-back view which gives an interesting view of the main character, who looks absolutely tinny by comparison. The levels themselves are dank and sparsely lit. If nothing else, Below looks intriguing and we can’t wait to hear more details about it as time wears on.
