Bungie: We toyed with the idea of Space MP for Reach

Posted By | On 29th, Nov. 2010

Halo: Reach almost had a space combat multiplayer mode, according to creative director, Marcus Lehto.

“We joked about it from time to time and even had a rough version of it working very early on in development,” said Lehto in a Game Informer interview (via CVG).

“But the mechanics of it were pretty silly and we very quickly realised that the resulting gameplay experience wouldn’t hit the bar we were aiming for, nor justify the amount of work required.

“With so many features and so much content already committed, Reach was an incredibly ambitious project on an already aggressive schedule.”

Oh well, it would have been awesome, not that Reach isn’t fun in its current form.

Bungie better get that idea into game form with their next project.

Reach which released in September this year, is Bungie’s last Halo game.
