Dark Souls 3 was officially announced at Microsoft’s press conference on Monday afternoon to great excitement. The most interesting tidbit was actually left out of the official reveal and came later in a press release. There had been rumors floating around since the game was first teased that this would be the last in the series and the release confirmed Dark Souls 3 will indeed close out the story.

It appears that players will be going out in style, as the release indicated this time trying to survive the end of the world is the goal. “Players will travel across a wide variety of locations in an interconnected world of unrelenting challenge and deep RPG gameplay as they search for a way to survive the coming apocalypse,” The release included.

Those who want to get their hands on the final chapter of the series will be able to do so next spring. Dark Souls 3 will be available for the PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One in early 2016.
