There’s no telling when we’ll get to finally see the release of Death Stranding, not least of all because it’s a game being made by Hideo Kojima and co., who have a propensity for taking their sweet time with putting out what ultimately turn out to be masterpieces more often than not. Recently, Kojima put up a tweet talking about what stage of development the game is currently in, with Aki Saito, head of marketing and communications at Kojima Productions, following up with a translation of the tweet.

Death Stranding, currently, is not in a ” debugging stage”, but the team is working on “combing all the game elements formed in the development tools into the game”. Kojima, Saito’s tweet says, is playtesting the game every day and making constant adjustments, while the team adds in and removes things from the game every day as well, in what Saito describes as a “key time in development”.

We have lately been getting quite a few updates on Death Stranding’s development. Japanese voice recording sessions have been underway for a while, while it also seems Sony’s gearing up to kick off proper marketing for the game. Not too long ago, Kojima also mentioned that development on Death Stranding is slightly behind schedule.

Sony is holding a “State of Play” stream tomorrow, where it promises “new trailers, new game announcements, and new gameplay footage”. Might we be about to see something related to Death Stranding then? Stay tuned to find out.
