Deck 13’s The Surge will be continuing from where the studio’s earlier effort Lords of the Fallen began. No, that doesn’t mean it’s a sequel but it signifies yet another action title with Dark Souls-inspired combat. New screenshots for the game showcase the kinds of enemies you’ll be dealing with.

The Surge takes place in a more futuristic society and differs significantly from the Souls series with its limb targeting. You can effectively cut off enemy limbs and use these as materials for upgrading your exo-suit. One could also simply defeat enemies and gather upgrades for their character. The combat will apparently be fast-paced and brutal with a good amount of tactics thrown in.

Scheduled for release in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, The Surge will likely receive more information at E3 2016. What are your thoughts on it so far at this stage in development? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.
