Bungie is pushing for its next big update to Destiny with patch 1.1.2 that will add new audio and video options. In its latest Weekly Update, the developer has also confirmed an increase in vault space.

As live team lead M.E. Chung has revealed, you’ll now be able to store 24 pieces of gear, 36 weapons and 24 stacks of items. Originally, players had only 20 slots for each category. It should be noted that this is only a short-term fix to the solution.

The increase, however, means that PS3 and Xbox 360 players wouldn’t be able to compare items in the vault any more. UI engineering lead Brad Field stated that, “In the case of the Vault expansion, it became clear that we would be pushing very limited memory constraints on older generation hardware. We had a choice: leave the Vault as-is, or find some kind of compromise to enable it safely.”

User research lead John Hopson further added that very few people have full vaults to begin with. “Very few people have completely full Vaults, but a lot of endgame players are bumping up against the limits. For example, 21% of players who are level 30+ have four or fewer free spaces in their weapon Vaults right now. The armor and general sections are slightly less full for most people, but not by much.

Regardless, the update is confirmed for April and will be the last major update before the House of Wolves expansion. Stay tuned for more information.
