DOOM Looks Stunning In These New Screenshots

Looks like the new DOOM will live up to its legacy.

id Software’s reboot of their classic, genre pioneering DOOM is almost here. The original DOOM kicked off the first person shooter genre, and set a new benchmark for computer game graphics- benchmarks that id Software themselves would then proceed to attempt to best with each of their subsequent releases.

The good thing is, it looks like the new DOOM will live up to that heritage of benchmark setting visuals. id Software released a new bunch of screenshots for the game, and the game looks absolutely gorgeous- looks like that id Tech 6 Engine was a pretty good investment now!

The game is currently actually looking better than the previous few times we have been shown it, suggesting that id Software have been working on cleaning the look up ahead of the title’s rapidly approaching launch. Truthfully, the console versions will probably not end up looking as good (though the PC version probably will be able to hit this level of performance). But hey, isn’t that the case always?
