Ex Microsoft Head Steve Ballmer Isn’t Much of a Halo Player

Ballmer isn't too into Microsoft's flagship franchise, it seems.

For Microsoft, Halo is probably one of the most important brands they have, and not just for their gaming division, for their overall company. This is evident in the fact that Halo branding now permeates every part of the company- their digital personal assistant, for example, is called Cortana, while their new browser Edge was codenamed Spartan.

So it should come as a surprise to many that ex Microsoft head Steve Ballmer, under whose tenure Halo grew into the behemoth that it is today, isn’t the biggest fan of the shooting game franchise. As a matter of fact, in a new interview with Bloomberg, he out and out says ‘I am not a big Halo player myself.’

Damn. That’s a bit harsh, though to his credit, he still nurtured the franchise and made it what it is today. Now if only he hadn’t nearly wrecked Microsoft during his tenure, too.

Halo 5: Guardians launches tomorrow for the Xbox One exclusively.
