So Ubisoft’s Far Cry series has mostly stuck to somewhat generic locales, jungles and enemy bases etc, except for that foray into the deserted regions of Africa in Far Cry 2 which made for a great game. Even their latest entry into the series Far Cry 4 is being set somewhere the scenery could be mistaken for Far Cry 3 at a glance.

But speaking at EGX (via Eurogamer), Far Cry 4’s senior level designer, Vincent Quellette has spoken about other areas that the game could have been set in. He says, “It wasn’t like, bam, right on Himalayas, we were looking at the whole world at the same time.

“We were looking at South America, we looked at Russia – we looked pretty much everywhere, but pretty early on we realised the Himalayas would be great.”

Far Cry 4 is out in November for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. What are your thoughts on Ubisoft settling for the Himalayas? Let us know in the comments.
