The MMO coming to PS4 with save file transfer as well.

The much maligned but finally reimagined Final Fantasy MMO, FInal Fantasy XIV, was announced for a PS3 release later this year (it was originally intended to release on PS3 back in 2010). However, as we all know, the PS4 is not backwards compatible with the PS3, meaning PS3 games won’t run on it. To enable the game to play on PS4 as well, Square Enix has announced that it is also coming to the PS4 in 2014.

The game will include cross platform play with the other two editions of the game, and it will also allow PS3 players to transfer their save files and progress to the PS4 edition. “While waiting for PS4 there is no reason not to start your adventure on the PS3,” producer Yoshida said.

He went on to speak proudly of the game’s quality. “Not only are we convinced with the quaity of windows PC version, but believe we truly have something special with PS3 version as well,” he said.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn releases on PS3 later this year. It can also be played on PC.
