Version 2 of the online RPG will finally be releasing in North America.

After a large amount of resources dedicated to changing things up, including the graphics, environments, character designs and interfaces, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is finally set to release in North America. Producer and director Naoki Yoshida announced as much at Tokyo during the Nico Nico Chokaigi 2 event that the game would be releasing this summer for PC and PlayStation 3.

Square-Enix has also unveiled a ton of new screenshots to celebrate this announcement. Check ’em out below.

Until then, there will be one more phase of beta testing – the MMORPG’s third – before it releases. This will go down in June, and will introduce PS3 users into the mix for the very first time, as they explore the world of Eorzea along with their PC brethren. Let’s see how well the cross-platform functionality works out.

On top of that, testers in the third closed beta phase will have access to new city states like Ul’dah and Limsa Lominsa. To register for the closed beta, head here.
