Here’s an interesting phenomenon: Daybreak Game Company’s H1Z1 players log out in large numbers when it becomes night time. The game features a myriad of threats as players struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested world with their wits and instincts. However, according to internal data, many don’t want to do this in the dark.

Daybreak president John Smedley took to Reddit to reveal these findings and said, “We play the game too, and we’ve tuned it as best we could to be fun and not too dark, but the data is quite stark. We are considering experimenting for a few days with no nighttime on the core PVP servers (hardcore would still have it).”

Other suggestions from users include slightly brightening the night or making it shorter overall. Smedley said that, “Personally I love the night, but data is data and it’s you, our players doing the logging out when it gets dark. You are literally voting with your feet on this issue.”

So if you’ve ever feared what goes bump in the night, H1Z1 will offer a solution soon enough. Stay tuned for more information as Daybreak deals with it.
