343 Industries has announced some new modes for Halo 4’s playlist following a recent matchmaking update. The first is Ninja Assassins, which can be played with up to 8 other combatants and is a free-for-all mode with Energy Swords, Sniper Rifles and Thruster Packs.

The mode is played without the motion tracker with a kill netting 10 points and assassinations adding 30 points. The kills allow you to level up and gain significantly improved skills, detailed below. One kill puts you at level 1, two kills puts you at level 2 and so on.

Ninja Level 1
Shields recharge at a faster rate (2x)
Assassinations performed at a faster rate (2x)

Ninja Level 2
Shields recharge at a faster rate (2x)
Shields recharge sooner than normal (after 3 seconds)
Assassinations performed at a faster rate (3x)

Ninja Level 3
Shields recharge at a faster rate (2x)
Shields recharge sooner than normal (after 2 seconds)
Assassinations performed at a faster rate (4x)
Unlimited Thruster Pack energy

The Big Team Battle playlist is also being refreshed with Neutral Flag mode being available for the Ragnarok, Exile and Longbow maps. Two brand new community maps – Excavation and Panic Station – have also been added. Ninja Assassins will be running on the playlist through April 28th.
