Hitman Physical Pre-Orders Do Not Include Access To Beta

Huh?

If you have pre-ordered the upcoming Hitman digitally, you’re good to go, and you get to participate in this week’s beta for the game. If, however, you had the gall to go out and pre-order a physical version of the game, well then, shame on you! You don’t get access to the beta.

IO Interactive have confirmed this on the game’s website. “If you’ve pre-ordered a digital version of the game, yes, [you will receive access to the beta]”, a message on the website reads. “If you’ve pre-ordered the physical disc version that we’re releasing later in 2016, no. Please check with your retailer before pre-ordering.”

This… does not make sense, though I suppose that it is consistent with the digital strategy that this game seems to be embracing, if nothing else. But, as with so many things that try to punish people for physical ownership, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Hitman launches in March on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
