Horizon: Zero Dawn Mega Guide – Cheats, Collectible Locations, Crafting And More

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a massive game. It’s full of a chock full of content, and there is nothing else like it. You will always be running into new stuff that demands and asks for your attention, and finding new things to come across. We’ve already covered how to get through the game’s story in our walkthrough– but just the story content is half the story told, and there is more to the game left still.

In this guide we will cover how to get unlimited fast travel, infinite metal shards, leveling up faster, gaining XP (experience points) quickly, all machines and how to kill them, all collectibles (power cells, ancient vessels, metal flowers, vantage datapoints and allies) and their locations, getting permanent mount, finding secret shield armor, crafting, weapon and armor modifiers. Lastly we have also included video guides that show how you can unlock some of the trophies within the game.

CHEATS:

Unlimited Fast Travel:

In any open world game, no matter how big or small, the one constant is the need to fast travel. Horizon: Zero Dawn has a particularly vibrant, big open world, but sometimes, you just want to get from point A to point B, and get there quickly. This section of the guide, which shows you how to achieve unlimited fast travel, should help you do just that.

Infinite Metal Shards:

This video below is basically the be all, end all, as far as farming shards in Horizon

How To Get The Secret Shield Armor:

Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s world is hostile, and full of things that will be all too happy to kill you. Having the best kind of armor is going to help you survive better in the wild. This video below shows you how to go out and find the secret shield armor, which hopefully gives you a better fighting chance.

How To Get Permanent Mount:

There are no horses in Horizon: Zero Dawn, but the game does something arguably better- it lets you hack machines, and use them as mounts. The hacking only lasts for a period of time- but there’s a way to basically get permanent mounts which should help traversal across the open world easier. The video below touches on this.

All Machines In The Game And How To Defeat Them:

There are multiple kinds of machines in the world of Horizon: Zero Dawn. They each have their own attack and movement patterns, their temperament and behavior, and they can and will each kill you if they get a chance. It is always best to be aware of your enemy, and their capabilities, before you attempt to take them on, That’s where this video will help- it will walk you through all the machines in the game, and sow you how best to tackle them.

How To Quickly Gain XP (Experience Points) And Level Up Faster:

Horizon: Zero Dawn is an RPG- and like any RPG, the higher leveled you are, the better you are equipped to tackle any challenge the world might throw at you. Also, like most RPGs, you gain levels by gaining XP first. This, then, means that gaining more XP, and gaining it quicker, should be something that all Horizon players will appreciate. This section of the guide, then, should be right up most of you all’s alley.

Do remember, that these are exploits, and they may be patched out by Sony. If you intend to use them, do so now, and remember you are unfairly gaming the game.

COLLECTIBLES AND LOCATIONS

Horizon: Zero Dawn is an open world game. It is, in fact, an open world game that takes a lot of cues from Ubisoft titles like Far Cry, in all the best ways possible. But this also means that the world is full of optional collectibles to track down, or locations to stumble upon. In this section of the guide, we catalog them all for you.

All Power Cell Locations

Finding every Power Cell in Horizon unlocks the secret Shield Weaver outfit- so naturally, you want to get right on that. The video below should help you out with that.

All Ancient Vessel Locations

There are 12 Ancient Vessels to be found in this game, and finding them all even unlocks a new Trophy for you. Sit back and let this video below help you out tracking them down.

All Metal Flower Locations

There are 30 Metal Flowers to be found in Horizon: Zero Dawn. They don’t do anything much, but they do unlock a new Trophy if you track them all down.

All Vantage Datapoint Locations

Vantage datapoints are obviously something that can be helpful in a game like Horizon. Plus, finding them all unlocks a Trophy, too. Check out the video below to know where to find them all.

All Ally Locations

The world of Horizon is hostile, and all the cards are stacked against Aloy. Not just the machines that want to kill you, but even given Aloy’s status as an outcast, no one really wants much to do with her- at best. At worst, they outight want to kill her. So knowing where there are allies for you to rely on can be handy.

CRAFTING TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Survival is paramount in the world of Horizon– and in this regard, the game takes a lot from other titles such as Monster Hunter and Far Cry. You are expected to be foraging and scavenging for materials, and then always be synthesizing them into something new that you can use in a pinch.
  • Crafting can get you one time use items, good for immediate health restores or buffs, or full fledged gear. It’s a deep system, and there’s a lot to wrap your head around. So we’ve decided to help with some basic crafting tips and tricks.
  • Check the upgrades screen- not only is it an easy way to upgrade the stuff you do have, it’s also the simplest way to keep track of what you need to upgrade something, and what you don’t already have
  • Always keep rare Machine drops. You can and should offload excess junk, but rare machine drops are things you should hold on to
  • Get the Tinker skill- it lets you reuse modifications
  • Hunt machines- this goes without saying, but if you se a machine in the wild, take it down, and scavenge its body for any useful materials it may have
  • Make sure to keep an eye on your environment for any materials you can pick up and use at a later time
  • Sell your junk- this is worthless, so there is no penalty, and you get money. There are other resources that start stacking up in your inventory and take more space than necessary- make sure you don’t have more than what you need, and sell the excess
  • Hunt animals in the wild- they, too, will net you useful materials for crafting
