Doom 4 again?

There was a time when id Software was a big deal in the gaming industry. Not that it still isn’t a big deal – John Carmack joining Oculus VR is proof that it still holds some significance to the industry as a whole. But in terms of game development, the company has only released one big title in the past few years with RAGE. And that didn’t necessarily go on to great commercial success.

Regardless, parent company Bethesda Softworks has revealed that it is hiring for a number of positions on id Software’s next project. Through its blog, it stated that, “id Software has a well-storied past, and now you can be part of their future.” Some of the roles required are an environment concept artist and design director.

Considering the rumours swelling about what Bethesda is involved with – from Fallout 4 to a Fallout MMO and having Arkane Studios working on either Prey 2 or Dishonored 2 (or both) – it would be interesting to see what this new project is. Perhaps it’s just Doom 4 but repackaged into something new? Stay tuned for more details.
