Japan Sales 25th to 31st July: 3DS Bombs, PSP Dominates

Posted By | On 03rd, Aug. 2011

It was kind of obvious after last week’s announcement of a massive price cut for the 3DS, which takes effect on August 11, that the system wouldn’t be as hot on the sales charts for the upcoming two weeks. However, I don’t think any of us could have predicted just how much the 3DS would tank, especially after its chart topping performance for the last couple of weeks.

The 3DS plunged to fourth place in the hardware charts this week, outsold by the PSP, the PS3 and the Wii. I am assuming that it would have sold even less had the announcement of the price drop not come so late in the week.
