After the success run that the Nintendo Wii U had last week with the release of Pikmin 3, the 3DS XL is back on top again in Japan, spurred with the success of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. which debuted on top this week according to the latest sales charts from Media Create via Gematsu.

This week, the Nintendo 3DS XL sold 41,322 units which is significantly higher than last week’s 29,594 units. Even the regular 3DS saw an increase in sales, with 15,703 units sold over last week’s 13,841 units. Despite no major releases this week, the PlayStation Vita is still significantly strong in Japan with 14,392 units sold. This, however, is down from last week’s 15,662 units sold.

Currently, the Wii U sits at fourth place with 14,230 units sold this week. Compared to last week’s 22,199 units, it doesn’t seem like a very big drop, but considering that the Wii U was in second position last week with Pikmin 3 being on top, it’s kind of disheartening.

Rounding out the top 5 is the PlayStation 3 which sold 11,413 units this week, down from last week’s 12,698 units.
