Hideo Kojima has been all over the place with Metal Gear Solid news. Whether it’s the subsequent teasing and announcement of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain; the shocking news that Ground Zeroes would be released first on both current and next gen consoles, serving as a tutorial; and of course, subsequent mystery as to when TPP will eventually release.

Nonetheless, one of those announcements – the replacement of series veteran David Hayter as the English voice of Snake with Kiefer Sutherland – has attracted its fair share of controversy. However, Hayter doesn’t seem to agree with the statement that he’s no longer Snake. In fact, responding to fans on Twitter, Hayter stated the following:

Strong words, and they follow the rumours that Hayter is indeed involved with Metal Gear Solid 5, in some way or another. Maybe he’ll be making an appearance as Solid Snake, bringing the whole series full circle? Whatever the answer may be, it’s still tough to think of Snake without Hayter’s gruff tone behind the mullet.

Then again, Pearce Brosnan and Daniel Craig took James Bond to new heights. Will Sutherland be able to do the same when Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes releases in early 2014 for PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4? We’ll found out in coming months.
