A job ad posted on Microsoft’s website reveals something rather interesting- notably, Microsoft is working on bringing a ‘beloved franchise’ to Windows 8, its beleaguered operating system.

Said beloved franchise could be anything- it could be bringing over Halo, or Forza, or Fable to Windows 8. It might be anything from the vast (and completely unutilized) catalog of Rare. Conversely, Microsoft might be working at reviving one of their classic, pre-Xbox era PC franchises. Which would mean that we might be talking about a new Rise of Nations, a new Zoo Tycoon, a new Flight Simulator, or- and this is the biggie- an all new Age of Empires game.

Whatever it is, it will be using the so called power of the cloud, as the cloud is being used to provide a highly scalable game experience (which would lend to the belief that the game won’t require high end specs to run). It also means that anything that requires too much twitch based gameplay is probably out.

What do you think would this be?
