Microsoft Q2 results out: $20 billion in total revenue

Posted By | On 20th, Jan. 2012

Microsoft has just revealed its quarter 2 results and it is massive, and that’s what you should expect from Microsoft. The news that is important to us is the gaming division performance, and it seems the overall operating income was $500 million, down by $100 million from the same quarter last year.

There are 65.8 million Xbox 360 consoles out in the market along with 18 million Kinect sensors. This is a massive achievement as they shipped 8.4 million Xbox 360 consoles in quarter 2. They shipped 6.3 million same quarter last year.

“In addition to the continued strength of our commercial business, this holiday season was the strongest in Microsoft history, thanks to good sales execution and compelling products like Xbox 360 and Kinect,” said COO Kevin Turner.

The company as a whole posted $20 billion revenue and the Microsoft E&D division posted $4.24 billion in revenue, which Microsoft said was due to strong hardware sales.
