Mirror’s Edge 2 Not a Sequel, Confirmed as “Reboot Origins Story”

Faith goes back to basics.

Well, this is awkward. EA recently revealed Mirror’s Edge 2 – or at least we assumed it was – at their recent E3 press conference. The game, for lack of a better word, looked awesome. But then EA went and shot itself in the foot by announcing that the game would be releasing for Xbox One, PC and PS4 “when it’s done”.

Not cool, EA. Not cool. But it gets better. Apparently, the game was never confirmed as Mirror’s Edge 2. And the trailer itself – showing Faith getting her signature tattoos made – should have been our first hint that it was a reboot aiming to tell an origins story.

Indeed, a press release for the same has confirmed that, “The new Mirror’s Edge reboots the franchise for the next generation with advanced visuals and an all-new origin story for Faith.”

Rebooting a series that’s only one game old and then not even giving any indicator as to when it releases? Not cool, EA. Just not cool at all.
