Naughty Dog Working on Unannounced AAA Title “On the Scale of Uncharted”

Along with Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us: Remastered, Naughty Dog has also revealed that it is working on a new AAA title that will be “on the scale of Uncharted”. Speaking to Game Informer, co-president Evan Wells said the project is in very early pre-production stages at this time.

“We have the sizeable team that it takes to get something like that off of the ground, but it’s got a long runway in front of it. We have a lot of great ideas and some stuff that is already getting everybody jazzed and excited. So, it’s a long way off before we can really start talking about it in detail. But no, [Bruce and Neil working on Uncharted] is not going to impact our ability to keep that stirring that pot.”

This comes after the fact that Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley of The Last of Us fame would be heading up development for Uncharted 4.

    It’s good to know you’re completely wrong and raging against facts and reality, and nothing you say will happen. I’m constantly right, you’re constantly wrong.

    PS4 will have the graphics advantage the entire gen. PS4 hardware and software will outsell Xbox globally the entire gen. PS4 will have more dev support and more 1st party games the entire gen. Sony still has a large number of 1st party studios and they’re all working on PS4 games. PS4 will make a net profit, Sony won’t go bankrupt. I’m constantly right, as usual.

    Factual PS4 Hardware Advantages: +6 CUs, +560 GFlops (44% greater), +16 ROPs, +6 ACEs/CQs, better GPGPU support, better performing CPU, and faster unified memory. PS4 OS may also have less overhead or reserves.

    Both Sony and MS have world class coders that will extract every bit of performance out of their consoles with their drivers/APIs/SDKs. The difference is PS4 simply has more powerful hardware to work with, so it will always stay ahead in graphics performance.

    Every console has a power budget that can be put towards resolution, framerate, or visual effects. PS4 has a higher total budget than Xbox. Therefore Forza 5 would run better on PS4, and Driveclub would run worse on Xbox. Quantum Break would run better on PS4, and The Order would run worse on Xbox.

    PS4 will have better performing games for the entire generation as it has more powerful hardware, you can’t overcome a hardware gap with better drivers/SDKs. Any game running on Xbox One can be run with better framerate/resolution/visual effects on PS4.

    If they’re both running at the same resolution the Xbox version will have lower framerate and/or visual effects, or the PS4 hardware isn’t being pushed.

    Digital Foundry proves that PS4 multiplat games consistently run at higher res and/or framerate.

    PS4 version of Watch Dogs has higher shadow quality, higher resolution, less screen tearing, higher framerate, and far better ambient occlusion over Xbox.

    PS4 version of Wolfenstein has higher average resolution and higher shadow quality over Xbox.

    PS4 version of Thief has higher res, framerate, and mostly higher visual effects. It’s superior in almost every way aside from trilinear filtering being traded off for parallax occlusion mapping over Xbox.

    PS4 version of Trials Fusion has higher resolution, framerate, and the exact same texture data over Xbox.

    Some use cherry picked screenshots from where a streamed texture was 0.01 seconds from fully loading and try to use it as false proof PS4 has worse textures. This is wrong and deceptive. Hard drive speed is the main issue in texture streaming load times. Installing a SSD in PS4 decreases texture streaming times dramatically. The texture data on most multiplats is identical.

    And don’t even start with the “sharp popping textures” from the hideous upscaling sharpness filter that they ended up removing. The crushed black contrast bug on Xbox One can be replicated on any display by increasing the contrast and/or sharpness levels.

    Xbox One AAA multiplats (Watch Dogs, Witcher 3, CoD: Advanced Warfare) will run 720-900p for the lifetime of the system.

    PS4 could run Ryse, Forza, Dead Rising 3, or any Xbox exclusive at higher res/framerate/effects, as it has more powerful hardware.

    PS4 has the superior visuals on all console AAA multiplats, more dev support including indies, a large number of first party studios, free to play games and MMOs like FFXIV and Warframe, and unannounced 1st party games. Titanfall 2 and future 3rd party games will almost certainly be on PS4.

    1st-2nd party studios include Media Molecule, Quantic Dream, Guerilla Games, Sony London, Bend, San Diego, SOE, Santa Monica, Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, Japan Studio, Ready at Dawn, Evolution Studios, etc.

    PS4 games not on Xbox One: Killzone, inFamous Second Son, Dynasty Warriors 8, Final Fantasy XIV, Warframe, DC Universe, Yakuza Isshin and other Japanese games, MLB 14 The Show, Bound by Flame, Injustice Gods Among Us, Knack, Natural Doctrine, Transistor, Uncharted, Planetside 2, Dragon Ball Z, MotoGP, Deep Down, Driveclub, The Last of Us, The Witness, The Order, and a ton of indies including Resogun, Rime, Transistor, etc.

    Recently Sony has filed trademarks or had leaks for no less than 6 games. Entwined, Kill Strain, Blood Borne, Dark Chronicles, Project Beast and Guns Up.

    Don’t worry PS4 will keep selling like hotcakes based on superior multiplats alone, and bundles with Destiny and Watch Dogs.

    Lol no. That’s funny since PS3 outsold 360 in hardware and software after MS abandoned 360 to Kinect shovelware while games like The Last of Us sold 6+ million. 360 ended in 3rd place, just like OG Xbox, and even Wii U is putting up a fight against Xbox One.

    PS4’s stronger hardware is a major factor in why it has a ~3.5 million sales lead, and it will continue to dominate multiplatform sales. Multiplatform games are now more important than exclusives.

    The PS4 version of Watch Dogs accounted for 49 per cent of first week sales, followed by the Xbox One edition (27%), the Xbox 360 version (13%) and the PS3 edition (9%).

    PS4 version of Watch Dogs outsold Xbox One by 2:1 and “gamers don’t care that PS4 is more powerful”? You’re arguing against reality and trying to downplay PS4’s hardware power, and losing. It seems most people are ignoring attempts to downplay PS4’s stronger hardware and buying PS4s anyway.

    PS4 has the lead on the two biggest multiplatform games of the year, Watch Dogs and Destiny. Watch PS4 dominate Xbox yet again during Destiny month. Every AAA console multiplat that runs better on PS4 is another reason to buy one.

    You can stay in denial, I’ll be over here in reality where PS4 continues outselling Xbox.

    Oh and clench your cheeks for May NPDs, it’s gonna be ugly.
