New Alan Wake trailer- Scrapped for PC

A new trailer has just been released for Alan Wake.

In the video we can see that Alan Wake will be a very cinematic experience, using good use of lights and darks to make you jump. It’s difficult to discern much else from the trailer, but we can assume that the game will begin with you travelling into a remote area with a wife or girlfriend, before bad things start happening…..

In related news, Alan Wake for PC has been officially canned.

Microsoft stated:

Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience “Alan Wake” was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.

Alan Wake releases for 360 on May 18th in the US and 21st in Europe.

That excuse is bs. Honestly if it’s a money issue say so. To say it would just be better in front of a TV is subjective. I’d like to see research behind that R&D decision. By limiting it to one console you are limiting audience and restricing profit. There have been plenty of very atmospheric and thrilling games only on the PC, System Shock 2 to name a prime example.

Once again this is just another example of screwing people over who can’t afford, or don’t want to buy, a console.

I was looking forward to this game.

I was also looking forward to this game. I do not like to play games on consoles, the graphics look really bad (compared to the PC), and the controller is no match for the mouse & keyboard. I will NOT buy a console, ergo I will NOT buy this game.
