Epic’s next gen Unreal engine got an official announcement at GDC and the footage for it has leaked for all to see. Damn does it look good. The demo was developed with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 500 series of graphics cards and it really does speak for itself.

Can’t wait to see what kind of games will be using this sucker.

WOW… that really is astounding, its like watching that major high budget CG Final Fantasy film that they made a few years back, maybe they can finally make Killing Time and please all the PS3 fans they disappointed at the time after all the graphic capabilities are clearly there now.

I got to say I have seldom been as impressed in my entire life as I was watching that clip, gaming really has stepped it up a gear recently.

You should also check out Cryeks FarCry 3 engine – that is equally amazing

I find most games that use the unreal engine to have samey bland graphics, although Bulletstorm was beautiful and colourful which made a nice change!

It’s all in how the developers use the engine and there is a ton of potential in Unreal, it still feels like everything is in the same universe. The character from the Unreal 3 showcase at least looked normal in terms of design, usually its all roided up looking Marcus clones that everyone uses with this engine. Glad I’m a PC gamer first, cause we’ll see the fruits of this engine long before consoles will.
