Among the biggest titles that will be releasing next year will be Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros., two new, long awaited entries in powerhouse franchises that may be enough to stall the negative momentum of the Wii U all by themselves. In today’s Nintendo Direct webcast, Nintendo offered us new details about the games.

First off, both titles were reaffirmed for a Spring 2014 release; new characters were confirmed for both games, with Rosalina being confirmed for both, Super Smash Bros., and Mario Kart 8. Fans of the Super Mario Galaxy games probably remember Rosalina as the starry princess.

In addition to Rosalina, various ‘Baby’ characters were also confirmed for Mario Kart 8; in addition, new vehicle types were confirmed, including dirtbikes, ATV buggies, and even UFOs, in addition to the standard karts.

Both titles are due to hit the Wii U in a few months’ time (Super Smash Bros. is also hitting the Nintendo 3DS), so stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage.
