And over two thirds of those come from North America.

Amiibos

That Nintendo’s NFC enabled Toys to Life Amiibo figurines are a runaway success is not necessarily a point that anybody disputes anymore. The figures, which have marked the beginning of a financial turnaround for Nintendo thanks to their sales performance, have also created a kind of buying frenzy which is entirely new to the gaming world, with entire waves of shipments selling out minutes after they are first put up for pre-order.

But if you wanted to put a number to that success, here it is, courtesy of Nintendo’s latest financial report: globally, the Amiibo range has now sold 10.5 million units. Considering that they was at 5.7 million units at the end of last year, Amiibos have managed to double their sales in what are generally considered to be the three slowest months of the year.

Of course, Nintendo, now just think about how much they would sell if you actually made enough for everyone to buy.
