The demo for Team Ninja’s Nioh is now available on the European PlayStation Store. It’s 3.9 GB and you can expect it to appear later today on the North American PlayStation Store.

Though billed as a demo, this is actually an alpha build for the game. According to Team Ninja, finishing a certain number of objectives will grant access to free DLC when the game finally launches. At this point, the Nioh demo offers a few hours of gameplay for showcasing its mechanics.

Interestingly enough, players can choose between visual beauty or the best frame-rate optimization in the Options menu. We’re not sure the purpose of this but it could be for Team Ninja to gain further data on the game and optimize it even more.

The demo will be valid until till May 5th after which it will become unavailable. Nioh releases later this year, exclusively for PlayStation 4 so stay tuned for more details.
