Overwatch is Free to Play in May (For China)

Competitive Play is locked for the trial though.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch will be available as a free to play title next month. Unfortunately, that’s only for China.

As per the official Chinese Blizzard site, this trial will start from May 1st and end on May 31st. All 14 maps and 24 heroes will be free to play with during the event. Furthermore, players can level up, earn loot boxes, unlock items and even transfer their progress to the full game if purchased later. Competitive Mode is the only feature locked for the duration of the trial.

Unfortunately, this trial won’t be coming to the West as confirmed by Blizzard’s Bill Warnecke on Reddit. Still, this is a pretty good way to earn more players, especially with Counter-Strike: GO set to launch in China soon.

What are your thoughts on the trial and how peeved are you that it’s not coming to North America, Europe or the rest of the world (right now)? Let us know in the comments below.
