Overwatch will be losing the ‘Avoid This Player’ feature in its next update, Blizzard has announced. It seems as though the feature was interfering with the game’s matchmaking, so Blizzard have decided to just do away with it. However, before you get all angry and grab the pitchforks, hold up- you will still have some control over the players you get matched with, as the ‘Prefer This Player’ feature will continue to stay in the game.

“The ‘Prefer’/’Avoid’ player system was designed with the best intentions; however, it’s not currently performing in a way that we feel is healthy for the game,” Blizzard said. “While the ‘Prefer This Player’ option is more or less working as intended (and is thus still enabled), the ‘Avoid This Player’ option has impacted the matchmaker in a negative way and led to some very poor player experiences.  Although we like the idea of being able to say ‘hey, I’d prefer not play with this player’ the implementation of this mechanic is not where it needs to be, so we’ve disabled it and will be removing the UI option in a future patch.”

The patch is already out on PC, and will be made available to the consoles soon. Overwatch is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
