Overwatch Now Has 10 Million Players, Blizzard Announces

A titan rises.

Blizzard’s Overwatch has been a runaway success- how much of a success? Well, Blizzard announced today that the game has hit 10 million players, across all three of its versions. For a new IP that’s multiplayer only while also being full price, this is an incredible achievement- especially since other, similar games, like Titanfall, have failed to do as well previously.

With Overwatch being kept alive by Blizzard with a somewhat controversial (and distasteful to me- I have always maintained that microtransactions in full price releases are unacceptable, and that stance does not change here just because it is Blizzard) microtransactions scheme, it also seems like this will be one game that will continue to rake in the cash for Blizzard for a long while to come- not bad at all for a game that at one point was the biggest failure in the developer’s history.

Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
