Guild Wars 2

Among a plethora of subscription based MMORPGs, Guild Wars stood out when it released back in 2005 for its one time purchase plan. All you needed was the game disc, with no other subscriptions or purchases being necessary. What was most impressive was how it competed with other subscription based MMOs in terms of quality. The sequel will carry on this level of excellence, still without subscription fees. It’s looking pretty good so far, making it a must have if cost effective MMOs are your sort of thing.

Neverwinter

Though it has nothing to do with the classic Neverwinter Nights, the upcoming Neverwinter seems set to be a strong interpretation of the eponymous Dungeons and Dragons world. Though the free to play Dungeons and Dragons online may be getting more promotion at the moment, the strong story focus of Neverwinter makes it sound like a different MMO experience altogether. It won’t launch till much later this year, but it certainly sounds like it will be worth the wait.

Diablo 3

There’s a lot of speculation regarding a console version but, for now at least, Blizzard’s continuation of the awesome Diablo franchise will remain a PC exclusive. Too right as well, as the PS1 port of the original Diablo was pretty abysmal in comparison to its desktop brother. It’s a franchise that has always belonged on the PC, and it’s easily one of the most anticipated PC titles in years. If you aren’t excited for this one yet, then you should just lay down your keyboard and give up now while you’re ahead.
