Microsoft’s Kinect surely does look promising. But judging by the screens, people will look stupid while playing Kinect. As you can see from the images below people are literally flying and swinging around. Do you think you will be doing that in your living room?

Thanks, Kotaku.

well to be fair, people said the exact same thing about wii owners and users of the wii mote. now everyone wants to go the casual motion control route. lets see how it shapes out in the end

  • Not sure about any of you, but my living room is not even close to being that big or having that much free space between my couch and television. Also, for the record, my living room isn’t full of Asians.

It seems the only reality in this image for me is that they have a videogame system in their home and the walls are not painted.

Is this sum cheapshot at knocking Kinect? I’m buying Kinect cuz I WANNA LOOK STUPID. It’s fun!

It’s not that it’s a knock at Kinect. The article is just showing that the actors in the screens look stupid. The actors for the Kinect marketing and the actors for the Wii marketing all use over the top motions to help display exactly what you’d be doing for a particular game. You won’t need to throw your arms 90° to the right to slide in Joyride, but you will need to lean a bit so that it registers the movement.

People said the same thing about the Wii.

  • It all depends on how you see it.
