Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Crosses $3 Million in Funding

Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has seen much success since its crowd-funding campaign launched on Fig. It crossed the $1.1 million goal in less than 24 hours and currently stands at $$3,098,361 with less than three days remaining.

The latest stretch-goal achieved with this funding is “Relationships” which is explained by design director Josh Sawyer in the video below. The next stretch-goal at $3.25 million is for the ability to have four “Sidekicks” adventure with you throughout Eora.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is a direct sequel tot he first game and is currently due to release in early 2018. Along with a new region and characters, it will also contain sea travel, dynamic weather and even more reactive reactions from your decisions. It’s even possible to continue your save from the previous game and see how things play out.

    I’m having the hardest time playing the first one. I’m not a fan of rpg-ing a large party.

      Torment: Tides of Numenera has a 4 person party, and is much more heavily focused on actually role-playing your character. I’m about 50 hours in and I love it. Lots, and I mean lots, of reading. The writing is quite excellent, far and away the finest writing of all of these recent cRPGs. It has it’s weak areas, but I am truly loving my playthrough.

      That’s good to know! I think I could manage a 4 party system versus a 6 party one. I don’t really mind the reading as long as the story doesn’t drag. I definitely want to check the game out.
