Horizon: Zero Dawn

While we’re no closer to knowing exactly when we might actually get a release date for Horizon: Zero Dawn, this week we got a few more details about what we can expect to see in the story. Guerrilla Games Senior Producer Mark Norris recently sat down with Dualshockers and didn’t talk a ton of specifics but at least mapped out what he and his team want to do when it comes to the main character, Aloy and the world she lives in.

“The main story revolves around Aloy. She’s one of the reasons why we’re a single player only game. We want to tell the story of Aloy. But we also want to tell the story of the machines, the story of the world, the story of these tribes, and you’ll get those inside of quests, in open world activities, collectibles and other things.” Norris told the website. Norris also talked about how hard it can be to balance an RPG when it comes to selling a certain kind of story, while also making sure it’s one that a wider audience is going to be interested in seeing and playing.

The developer makes no bones about the fact that there is a certain number of units the PS4 exclusive has to sell. Knowing where to strike a balance when it comes to making an incredibly rich story that can be told to a wider audience is the tight rope most of these companies walk with games like this. Horizon: Zero Dawn doesn’t have an official release date but is expected sometime in 2016.
