Horizon: Zero Dawn

Guerilla’s upcoming new project for the PlayStation 4 Horizon: Zero Dawn looks innovative as well as awesome. It comes as no surprise that resolution and frame rate are incredibly important to gamers, and with the recent foul ups by RockSteady and Ubisoft, technical stuff is becoming more and more of a pressing issue.

However aiming for more consistent framerates of 30 FPS might be a good idea as gamers will have a better experience. Guerrilla revealed Horizon: Zero Dawn at E3 and promised that the game will run at 1080P with 30FPS. However is there a chance that the developers may push the game to 60fps? Guerrilla’s Mathijs De Jonge responded on Twitter that “for now we’re happy with 1080p/30fps and the vast amount of content we’re squeezing in.”

He also ensured that the frame rate won’t drop below 30fps. Let’s just hope when D-day comes, the team will be able to impress us and most importantly the players.

this game looks incredible. open world, dinosaurs and a really cool looking chick with a crossbow. it was a huge surprise to see this come from guerrilla 🙂

  • d0x360

How exciting.. It won’t drop below 30! Isn’t 24fps more cinematic though?

    • coen Helthuis

It´s just a company that assures you won’t get something like the pc version of arkham knight. (on the consoles its pretty stable though)

    • d0x360

I’m just joking around anyways but speaking of…I unfortunately do have batman on PC. Luckily I can run it at 1080p 60fps…most of the time but it is definitely a very broken game.

    • coen Helthuis

It will probably fixed in the future but it´s unfortunate yes.
Really rare that the console hold up a better framerate than some really strong pc´s. especially in the batmobile.

    • d0x360

Damn right its rare lol. Word on the street is the game waa finished only weeks ago by rocksteady which means the small team porting only had a couple weeks go port which…is all on WB.

    • Psionicinversion

hahah hows witcher 3 running for you?… still like crap ok then :d

    • coen Helthuis

Oh, it runs fine on my gaming pc. I have both platforms:)

    • Psionicinversion

      yeah PC is the best

    • coen Helthuis

If you have some nice hardware yes.

    • Psionicinversion

dont need much hardware to have a better experience than the console tbh

    • coen Helthuis

In some cases yes, in some cases no. Depends on the company. You can easily notice which platform was targeted most of the time.

    • Psionicinversion

nah just turn that gameworks crap off and it runs about the same

    • coen Helthuis

Lol, yeah that´s a good start to regain performance.

    • Psionicinversion

      yup hahaha

    • theduckofdeath

If you buy or build a PC today with the specs of the current consoles, odds are you are not doing so with the intent of playing games. It is up to your hardware and whether or not the devs and pub have an iota of integrity.

  • *Also On PC

    SILKY
    SMOOTH
    30FPS

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    • theduckofdeath

Better to have it running solid at 30fps and use any headroom for gameplay, effects/characters on screen. Consoles games shouldn’t bother with 60 fps, in most instances. In the race to demonstrate graphical profession, it will only get further away.

  • William Perdomo

Is that batman version back to steam yet? Lol ps4 version was the definitive. Pc graphics downgrade insane frame drops even with a Titan card that sad.

    • *Also On PC

Where’s the 60FPS? Sony said there would be 60FPS

  • *Also On PC

    What happened to 60FPS?

    • Michael

How’s that working for ya, pony.

  • theduckofdeath

The author uses the term “innovative”, yet, I have seen no innovation up until this point. Doesn’t being “innovative” require…innovation? Am I missing something in the videos.

There is a girl who looks like the kid from The Road Warrior all grown up. She is fighting robot dinosaurs with a bow and thrown spear. This doesn’t look much different than anything else. If you think looks cool, fine, but “innovative”?

    • XbotMK1

      You seem really jealous.

  • Devon Day

Great to see! If you are attempting to make a better game, I would rather go with more gameplay options than the framerate anyway.

  • Michael

50% more powerful gives you 50% less FPS…lol

    • XbotMK1

%50 more power gives you %50 better visuals, more dynamic effects, better animations, better physics, and more objects on screen.

      Framerate is a choice.

Stop your pathetic comments Michael. We all know you’re an upset Microsoft fanboy that hates how every game runs better on the PS4 than your Xbone.

Halo 5 ran at 720p with framerate drops down to 40. Yet here you are being a hypocrite.

  • MrVux007

Judging from salty comments, this game will be great 🙂
