PS4 Exclusive The Order 1886: Info Blowout And Gameplay Trailer Revealed

Posted By | On 18th, Feb. 2014

As promised yesterday, Sony have released a new gameplay trailer for Ready At Dawn’s The Order: 1886. It accompanies various previews which reveal new details about the game’s story, visual quality and combat.

The important thing to note first is that the close-quarters combat is very similar to Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. You can throw enemies into walls or smack them in the face with the butt of your rifle. You’ll even have situations wherein you trigger Heavy Rain-style QTE sequences. You’ll have a few seconds to hit commands like Triangle in order to ground and pound enemies. Or ground and stab, if you’d prefer, as hero Galahad carries a knife with him for such occasions.

There will be different kinds of enemies to fight and while you can run and gun against them all if you wish, some enemies can be better handled with up close and personal attacks.

French magazine Jeux Vidéo also published some details which indicate that there will be no visual difference between models used in cutscenes and gameplay, be it in the models or textures. The story itself centers around the Knights of the Order who battle demons thanks to a substance called “Black Water” which allows them to live for longer than your average human. Ready At Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasurya indicated connections to the legend of the Graal or Holy Grail and how there are detriments to the Black Water as well.

Sound exciting? As of now, The Order: 1886 is still rumoured to be releasing for PS4 in Autumn. Stay tuned for further details.
