PS4 Trailer Boasts 1000 Developers Licensed to Self-Publish Games

Among other facts and figures.

Posted By | On 28th, Mar. 2014

Sony has released a new trailer for the PlayStation 4, essentially thanking fans and developers for their support of the next gen console. Several figures are thrown out, including the 6 million units sold worldwide, the fact that the PS4 is the most socially connected console out there and much more. One of the most interesting facts includes 1000 developers who are licensed to self-publish games worldwide.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you can expect 1000 games to be out for the PS4 this year – the video itself says over 100 games will be out in 2014 – but it’s still an impressive figure. Sony’s indie push has reflected the same, with games like Outlast, Mercenary Kings, Resogun and much more on the console.

Many more indie titles are due this year including Galak-Z, Worms Battlegrounds, Transistor, Hotline Miami 1 & 2, etc. What are your thoughts on so many developers licensed to self-publish? Let us know in the comments.
