The new project is codenamed P7 and the developer specifically stated it was working on getting the Northlight engine working on PS4. The last major game to use Northlight was Quantum Break which released last year for Xbox One and Windows 10 before coming to Steam.

Remedy also announced strong financials in the last fiscal year with €16.4 million in revenue from Quantum Break’s release on Xbox One and PC. It also noted that it was working with Korean publisher Smilegate on developing CrossFire 2, a sequel to the highly successful CrossFire (which boasts 650 million registered users).

“What are your thoughts on Insomniac’s next game heading to the Xbox One? What could it mean for the Ps4?”

It means nothing. Remedy (and Insomniac, Ready at Dawn and who knows what else) was never a MS first party, they developed two games for the Xbox: Alan Wake and Quantum Break.
I hope they are developing Max Payne 4, I know that the IP now belongs to Rockstar, but that doesn’t mean that Remedy can’t work with it.

Agreed. It just also means that the company will make more profit by releasing multi-platform. Releasing a game on a single platform is ludicrous, if you’re 3rd party. Think about it. If you were a gaming company and wanted to make the most profit, you would put it on everything with a button. Ranging from Android/IOS to PC to Console. With all the bases covered, you’re surely to make all kinds of money.

Console exclusives are becoming sparse, Sony and Nintendo have plenty of them due to the fact that they dominated console market during the late 90s and early 00s and acquired many first party studios.
Right now, though, considering the increasing number of games released every month, competition is fierce and there’s almost no reason to publish a game for just a platform (if not for the publisher/platform funding), even Japanese niche games are coming to pc.

Quantum Break engine coming to PS4 Pro and Scorpio?

Nice, they’ll, somehow, manage to make the game render in 720p. Remedy should ditch their engine and use Unreal and focus on the game. Alan Wake and Quantum Break had poor image quality, I mean really poor. Quantum Break’s artifacts and blurred image was unbearable.
