Quantum Break is an upcoming and hotly anticipated third person shooter action video game that incorporates a mix of gameplay and live action video content which is currently being developed by the Finland based developer, Remedy Entertainment who achieved industry fame with their smash hit titles Alan Wake and the Max Payne series. Set to be published by Microsoft Studios the game is currently slated to launch exclusively on the Xbox One at an unspecified date some time in 2014 or 2015.

Unveiled during the Xbox One reveal event alongside a teaser trailer and later announced to be paired with a live action television series that is currently also in production. Remedy Entertainment has said that “how you play the game impacts the show, and the show informs how you play the game.”, whether or not this means the two titles run parallel to each other our are actively changed in real time is not yet known.

Development

Given the complex nature of building a video game title that is expected to intertwine with and actively influence a television series, details on the development cycle of Quantum Break are few.

We do know that developers at Remedy Entertainment have been in contact with a scientist who has previously worked at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research; specifically regarding current theoretical physics. Current theoretical physics theories are many, and this leaves a gap that can be filled with fiction which may well become reality were these theories proven possible and applicable to the real world, this can most notably be demonstrated in the game’s reveal trailer which showed both a slowing of time (seemingly to a standstill) and it returning to normal speed after being disrupted.

Story

QuantumBreakCharacter

Quantum Break takes place in a fictional region of the North Eastern United States at Riverport University. After an experiment focused on time travel goes wrong, the game’s three main characters are gifted with strange time manipulation abilities. One of which is foresight, a form of precognition which effectively allows the user the ability to accurately predict and plan around the coming future. This failed experiment has resulted in time being “broken”.

Gameplay

The central mechanic of Quantum Break is a third person shooter mixed with a cover based combat system that also makes use of Time Manipulation powers. The game will be a story driven project (see Alan Wake) mixed with the stylised action of the Max Payne series that Remedy Entertainment are so popular for.

Remedy has said that “Quantum Break blurs the line between television and gameplay, integrating the two into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience. It’s a revolutionary entertainment experience that weaves the cinematic action of intense gameplay with the tension and drama of scripted television, creating a world where each has a direct impact on the other.”

Characters

The game is going to revolve around 3 main characters, Jack Boyce, Beth Wilder and Paul Serence. Out of the group, not much is known but we do know that Paul Serene is the character that has been given the ability to see into the future.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game.
