Resident Evil 2 Remake Isn’t A Remaster – Capcom

The remake will be built from the “ground up” according to Capcom.

Remember that time Capcom announced a remake for Resident Evil 2 following the success of Resident Evil HD Remaster? Though the company’s recent investor report said that the project was a remaster, it seems that it’s actually built from the ground-up to be a remake.

This was clarified by Capcom UK marketing director Stuart Turner who said on Twitter that, “Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster.”

Considering that Resident Evil HD Remaster was an HD update to the remake from 2002, this is good news. It means the visuals will be much better this time around and the gameplay itself will feature more comfortable controls. At least, that’s what we hope it will be without going fully third person shooter.

Are you looking forward to the remake now that it’s going to be a proper remake? Let us know in the comments.

Why waste time on old ip’s … make something new , this is the cancer that plagues the industry now … main one being Sony , for starting this stupid trend …

I’d also rather see Capcom make new games instead of squeezing what ever juices are left in old IPs. I’d also like to see Capcom release source code and perhaps also assets for their really old titles (older than the RE1) for fans to make them compatible with modern OSes.

Since they’re committed to this project I think they should just do proper RE1: Remake style RE2: Remake with thank controls, HD 2D backgrounds and stuff. What I don’t want to see is that they take RE2 and reimagine it to be RE6 style game. They’ve already shown that they don’t have what it takes to make it happen properly.
