Resident Evil 7, Monster Hunter XX, and Dead Rising 4 All Underperform

That's a shame, since those are good games.

Capcom’s newest batch of games may largely be considered to be some of its best in years – particularly Resident Evil 7 – but it looks like the market wasn’t as hot on them as Capcom would have liked to be. In their newest financial report, Capcom revealed numbers for Resident Evil 7, Monster Hunter XX, and Dead Rising 4– and while the former two, at least, appear to have done well, Capcom admitted all three of them missed their sales targets.

Resident Evil 7 shipped 3.5 million units worldwide; Monster Hunter XX only launched in Japan and shipped 1.7 million; Dead Rising 4 failed to touch a million. The performance of all three games was deemed to have been disappointing.

It’s a bit of a shame since Resident Evil and Mosnter Hunter are both great- that said, Capcom is known for ridiculously inflated and unrealistic expectations, so maybe that has something to do with it. Hopefully all of these games continue selling over the long term and meet their sales target eventually.
