Volition Inc., fresh off having the next iteration of their open world franchise being refused certification in Australia, has released the new “Independence Day” trailer for Saints Row IV. Basically, when the going gets tough, then freedom gets going. And freedom gets going HARD.

Saints Row IV will see the Third Street Saints ascend to the level of the United States Presidency…only to be invaded by aliens and trapped in a VR simulation of Steelport.

Luckily, the Saints are wielding tons of new firepower including a mech and the ubiquitous Dubstep Gun, not to mention a bevy of new super powers including super strength, super speed, flight, freeze breath and much more. That will be on top of new missions, activities and other means to get your insanity on.

Published by Deep Silver, Saints Row IV will be heading to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 20th in North America and August 23rd in Europe.
