Shenmue 3

After a successful Kickstarter that saw it climb to more than $6 million in funding, Ys Net’s Shenmue 3 is making progress. According to the game’s official Twitter, there will be an update next week and it should be interesting.

“Progress update coming next week. Testing shots coming in – Ryo is back in action!”

We know that Shenmue 3 will be running on Unreal Engine 4 and is currently in development for the PC and PS4. The game’s development process has been the subject of deeper discussion with Sony launching the Kickstarter at E3 2015 and promising support through the typical third party processes. The need for the Kickstarter was questioned at that point if Sony was going to lend its support but regardless, fans proved they were willing to pay money for the game’s development and here we are.

Shenmue 3 is currently slated to release in December 2017 for PS4 and PC. It may also arrive on other platforms, though creator Yu Suzuki hasn’t confirmed as much. Your thoughts on the matter? Let us know in the comments.
