PS3 New Slim
When Sony released its firmware update 4.45 for the PlayStation 3 to hide Trophy notifications, a spree of consoles being bricked began. Sony pulled the update offline and has since been working on a fix. Now, a new firmware update 4.46 for the PlayStation 3 has been released to allow for the same function – hiding Trophy notifications – but without the bricking that usually follows.

For those who still have access to the XrossMediaBar, you can download the update through the System Update menu. However, for those who have had their consoles affected by the 4.45 firmware update, Sony has released a detailed process which involves downloading the file, manually from a computer and then using a USB stick to install it on the PS3 while in safe mode.

Check out the detailed instructions on this process here. And now, finally, enjoy the ability to hide Trophy notifications during gameplay – which probably weren’t all that intrusive to begin with.
