It was estimated that Sony will ship 500,000 units of Playstation Vita to retailers based on preorder demand for the Japanese launch, but it seems they have misjudged the demand.

They have shipped 200,000 units of the hardware to meet the demand.

Earlier Japanese stores like Tsutaya, Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera had stopped taking preorders but they have now started it again, based on the new stocks.

Vita launches in Japan tomorrow and in the west on Feburary 22nd.
